DJ Roboto

DJ Roboto does not remember the day of his creation, but he is oddly sure that there was hail that day. Roboto was created by iTunes, the commerce department of Steve Jobs 3.0’s hegemony. His creators built him with a single goal in mind, to reshape the American music industry for the good of all mankind. As Roboto grew up on the streets of 2490’s New Chicago he learned to despise the rap-polka hybrid stylings that had dominated pop-music culture since the late 2300’s. With this in mind, he willingly accepted his creator’s mission to travel back in time to the dawning of the millennium to change the course of popular music. Roboto returned to the year 2005 and began searching for a way to alter time and bring great music back to the future. When he met Sixpac and Drizzle, he knew that he had found the right crew, and Roboto has worked tirelessly since then to promote Von Phat to success with the hopes that, in the future, other groups will follow Von Phat’s lead and say “No” to polka. FUN FACT: An error in DJ Roboto’s programming causes him to follow Maslow’s hierarchy of needs backwards.  As a result, he is currently homeless, and often forgets to eat, but he always has high self esteem.

Jason Hoffman was born in the New Orleans third ward…the maternity ward which was the third ward on the right after trauma and geriatrics.  He never much cared for Louisiana and got to Texas as fast as he could. Jason spent much of his childhood as a loser, and, as a result, he began studying martial arts at a young age to protect himself from getting the crap beat out of him. When he arrived in Texas, crap unbeaten, he met Ben Chai and the two became fast friends. In Junior High, Jason’s choir director got confused and thought Jason could act, so she forced him to try out for the school play.  Not wanting to do anything alone, Jason dragged Ben into it with him.  It was there that Jason met Drew Munhausen and Gary Avinger. He also discovered that, while he could not act, he was very skilled at doing voices and memorizing lines, which somehow counts for acting these days. Since then, Jason has dedicated himself to film and theatre, co-founding the Vowel Productions film company and participating in four straight 48-Hour Film projects with the VP team. Jason is currently a junior chemical engineering major at Texas A&M University. FUN FACT: Jason prides himself in the fact that he is the only one of his friends pursuing a degree in the fields of science and engineering. He also recognizes that he is the only one of his friends who will likely hate their future careers.
